D-Day

History of the war is the account of the victorious side.

Reality

Days after MP’s corruption in England were known, people were furious but not us Indians. We’ll be furious only when Ministers use funds for the country legally.

I saw the press meet of Gordon Brown after reshuffling his Cabinet; It was nearly for an hour and he took pains to answer the questions. Our politicians will be wondering what's wrong in using the public funds for personal use ? Because they have been doing it for ages now.

IPL 2

Chennai lost... Happens... Lots of matches left to become Top 4.

The highlight of day came from Bangalore. The old guns/legends were blazing.

Rahul Dravid showed once again why he's a legend. The wicket did everything possible and Dravid did everything as The Wall and got 66.

Anil Kumble on the other side got 5 wickets in 3.1 overs and helped Rajasthan to acheive IPL's lowest ever score.

Quick #2

Rahul Dravid an inch closer to another record.
He took one more catch to make the total tied at 181 with Mark Waugh. Hope he reaches the milestone today.

P.S. Have fond memories of "c Dravid b Kumble"

Update: He broke the record and now has 184 catches to his name.

Women’s World Cup

Hey we won.. Of course not with New Zealand but with Australia. The women’s team stunned the host team by a 16 run victory. Anagha Deshpande, Anjum Chopra was solid and steady with the opening and Mithali Raj was once again excellent. The bowlers too got wickets regularly and broke partnerships from building.

Australia tried hard but the run rate was exceeding every time and with no steady partnership it lost the battle.

Check the ICC site for more news and photos.

Quick #1

Shifting between channels to catch India with cricket.

  1. Women's World Cup - India Vs Australia.
Slow and steady start by Openers and a good innings by
    Anjum Chopra.
  2. Men’s team at New Zealand. Again a rain delayed start and we have won the toss and chose to bat. Hope we win 4-0.

A Spaghetti stick when bent cannot be broken into exact halves. It always breaks into 3 pieces.

Try it.

Wake Up

Was seeing a TV show and something about religion was going on and a good point was made.

Its like we Indians secular and don't differentiate us on basis of religion(which never happens) but still we find the column RELIGION on all forms (be it a school application or a lucky draw form) and we have to fill or the form will be rejected. End of the day Religion is just faith and we don't have to go around telling/publicising it. I think if these change, future will be better off with less problems.

Delhi 6

Watched Delhi 6 and was damn surprised. The movie is good. Yes the movie is GOOD. The critics had written worse about it and read some blogs which said it was boring.

Maybe when the movie shows the reality about our blind superstitions, religious complications and that too when an outsider denotes our mistakes, we tend to ignore or speak against it. A word or a gesture is enough to cause raging fires between our religions and it shows how vulnerable we are.

The first half was just about introducing the characters and for Rahman’s music. Then the story plunges into the theme of the movie. Not quite like Rang De Basanthi style but it was good. Good work by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra.

Academy Awards

Finally he has done it. A.R Rahman gets two Oscars for Best original score and for the song Jai Ho !… Well, even without Oscars everybody knows about his music… Then it was Resul Pookutty for Sound Mixing with two others !.. Congrats !

Other than Slumdog Millionaire show down there was Kate Winslet at last won her first Oscar after 6 nominations. And Heath Ledger (As Joker in Dark Night) also won for Best actor in Supporting role. Just loved his performance in the movie.

And also another Indian at the Oscar was a young Pinki Kumari for the documentary Smile Pinki. The documentary was done by Megan Mylan.
